Temple of Apollo

The temple of Epicurean Apollo in Bassae of Figaleia is one of the most important and imposing ones of antiquity. The temple is 1,130 meters high, in the center of the Peloponnese, on the mountains between Ilia, Arcadia and Messinia.

This monument, one of the best preserved of classical antiquity, was the first in Greece that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.
